Peasant soldiers

When the alarm resounds in the fields and we must hide in the castle, we know that, what is left behind will be pillaged or burned down to ashes. This is why during emergencies, some lords or ladies leave behind armed peasants, able to at least slow down the enemy. The peasant soldiers are able to wield the the pitchfork and the scythe in reasonably less pacific ways than they usually might. However, do not hope any more than that if they are facing trained professional men-at-arms.
