Burgraviate

Burgrave also rendered as Burggrave is the official title for the ruler of a castle, especially a royal or episcopal castle, and its territory called a Burgraviate or Burgravate. The burgrave is a [URL=/help/org?type=viscount]viscount[/URL] in rank equipped with judicial powers, under the direct authority of the emperor, or of a territorial imperial state or territorial lord. The responsibilities are administrative, military and jurisdictional.
