Mounted Archers 7‣60

Mounted archery designates a combat technique involving a rider armed with a bow. To use his bow, the rider must let go of the reins and such soldiers therefore need exceptional equestrian skill. The movements of the horse in the race are an inconvenience which prevents to aim with exactitude. Archers can stand on the stirrups to dampen the movement of the horse. Another method to increase shooting accuracy is to fire when none of the horse's hooves touch the ground.
